Meadow of Daisies

As much as I want to be the type of person who loves waking up on a Monday morning feeling excited about the week ahead, having meal prepped for the week, being organised with an early morning workout already completed. However that is not the case, I have to set many different alarms to ensure I wake up, regretting watching that extra episode on Netflix the night before.
Therefore I started to use an hour on Sunday to organise everything and get myself prepared for the week ahead. These are my tips on things that I do to relax and little things that I always find put me in a better mood on a Monday morning.

Buy some flowers
Recently every Sunday evening I have been on a trip to Lidl to buy a bunch of flowers. Then I set them up in a vase and it will always make me smile when I come down to my office and I can smell the fresh flowers and puts me in a good mood.

Plan my week
I like to be organised and plan out my week effectively. If I have work deadlines or places that I have to be I find it a lot easier to mark it all down on my weekly planner. Then my week is all planned out and I can ensure that I don't miss any deadlines and also that I can prioritise my work as to manage my time most effectively.

Make a list for Monday
Similar to planning my week, but once I have done that I will make a more detailed plan for Monday so that I can easily see what needs doing and it motivates me as I see my list getting smaller throughout the day.

Tidy up
I always try, especially when I am at uni and working, living and sleeping from the same room it always ends up (no matter how hard I try) getting really messy. I have learnt from my first year that whenever my room is messy and untidy it really demotivates me to work. By doing a quick and speedy clean around wiping up surfaces it makes it a lot easier on a Monday morning to get up at the start the day in clean surroundings.

Have a pamper session
I always have a pamper on Sunday and take it as a time to do skincare such as face-masks, along with pore strips, and having a bath. I also use Sunday evenings as a time to sit and repaint my nails to give them a bit of a refresh ready for the upcoming week.

Healthy breakfast
I also make sure I have all the ingredients to make a healthy breakfast, whether that would be a giant bowl of fruit, pancakes with fresh berries or avocado and eggs on toast. I also always make sure that I have fresh juice for my breakfast.

Whenever I travel to destinations writing and taking photographs are my favorite ways of creating memories to look back on.  These are some pictures of the favorite places I visited, I love sharing pictures and places to give people an idea of what Hawaii looks like and to give myself a log of where I went as a way to remember it.

The past year the environmental impact of plastic waste has become evidently clear. Single-use plastic is causing a serious problem, such as harming wildlife specifically marine wildlife such as turtles, whales, dolphins, and seabirds to name a few along with polluting the ocean. It has become an issue that I am extremely passionate about and since doing a university assignment on it have become increasingly aware of the many alternatives available instead of plastic.

I feel it is an issue that will be impossible to solve unless everyone changes their attitudes towards plastic consumption. Here are some easy ways in which you can reduce plastic pollution in your everyday life.

1. Use a reusable coffee cup
Coffee is a go-to for most people's busy lifestyles including me. I always get a coffee when heading into university. My favorite coffee cup is from the brand keepcup. Many coffee shops give you a discount for bringing a reusable coffee cup, preventing waste and saving the environment.

2. Reusable bags
You will always find a reusable bag in my handbag. I find they are useful for everything. My favorite ones to carry around are the paper chase ones. However, you can purchase these types of bags anywhere now and if you decide to pop into the shops you always have a bag on hand so do not have to pay 5p for one.

3. Metal straws
When I stopped using plastic straws I first started using cardboard straws, these are great however will go soggy in your drink and aren't good for someone like me who makes a drink and drinks it for ages out of a straw. Then I discovered stainless steel straws which honestly are amazing, and so small and convenient to keep in a handbag for whenever you might need it. They can also be purchased from most retailers I bought mine in Asda but you can get loads of different styles on Amazon too.

4. Reusable bottle
For Christmas, my mum actually bought me a daisy print Chilly's reusable water bottle to go with my blog theme and I absolutely love it. These water bottles are great as they keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for 24 hours. Fill your water bottle up before you leave the house and refill when you find a water station (or alternatively ask a café to do so). You’ll never have to buy a plastic bottle again!

5. Bring a lunch box
If traveling even if it is easier to buy food, this is usually contaminated with plastic packaging. Making meals at home and bringing out leftovers avoids plastic packaging and is a great way to save money.

6. Say no to plastic in supermarkets
Often when buying fruit and vegetables from the supermarket, they are contained in unnecessary plastic packaging. Therefore, I find the best thing is to choose loose products. Whenever I purchase items such as peppers, tomatoes, bananas, etc and just put them in my basket without getting a plastic bag for them.

7. Reusable bathroom items
Face wipes - Avoid using face wipes. Face wipes contain non-biodegradable plastics which will harm the environment. There are many alternatives available such as flannels that can be used with the same effects.

Reusable cotton pads - Honestly this is one that I have not yet tried but it is something I have been doing research on and am planning to do in the future. They work in exactly the same way as single-use pads and can be used many times.

If you would like some more tips on how to reduce your plastic consumption there are many Facebook groups that you can join that offer helpful information along with tips and tricks and living a more sustainable lifestyle.

Travelling is one of my favorite experiences in life. I have found that the experiences I have gained through traveling, being emerged in different cultures, and exploring different parts of the world always sparks my imagination. Every trip fuels my wanderlust and I want to travel more and more, to new and old places.

I am fortunate enough to already have been able to travel to different parts of the world,, make memories and friends with people all over the world.  However there are still so many places that I want to travel to, this is my top five; 🌍

Fiji

Fiji just looks absolutely beautiful with its clear blue waters, beautiful mountains, palm tree-lined beaches, and coral reefs in beautiful lagoons. It has been somewhere that I always wanted to visit and experience.

Rio de Janeiro
I have always wanted to travel to South America. To experience such a different culture to what I am used to and would be an amazing thing to experience first hand. Rio de Janeiro looks like an amazing city and would be a brilliant experience to visit.

Thailand

Thailand is a City filled with, culture and history. It radiates a golden hue, from its glittering temples and tropical beaches. Thai food is also one of my favourite foods so I would love to experience it in Thai culture and see how different it is to home.

Salem and New Orleans

Maybe it's just my love of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, but ever since watching the show I have always said that I wanted to experience Salem and New Orleans. I am fascinated by the Salem witch trials and would love to experience the history and culture of both Cities.

Salem

New Orleans

Norway

Seeing the Northern lights has always been a dream of mine to have it happen as a natural phenomenon absolutely amazes me. Norway encompasses mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. Whenever I see photographs of Norway it always looks amazing and absolutely beautiful.

What are on your bucket list of destinations to travel to?!

The Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the World.

I knew that the Grand Canyon would be an amazing site to see but nothing really prepares you for it in the flesh. It's simply amazing and no photograph you ever see of it compares.

I went on a tour of the Grand Canyon, through a company called Canyon Tours. It was an amazing experience, that I would definitely recommend. I went on the flying tour, which although it was more expensive than the bus tour, we spent an hour flying to get there when it would have taken 4 hours in a coach.

We went on the 6.00am morning, so we were picked up from our hotel at around 4.55, by a lovely driver who took us to the Airport where the planes took off from. We were in the air at 6.00 and had arrived in the Grand Canyon by 7.00. We went on a coach for around half an hour to the south rim of the Grand Canyon.

I would throughly recommend the Grand Canyon, It was a truly breathtaking experience and was absolutely amazing to be able to see - would throughly recommend.

It is becoming a lot more common for people to want to choose to go cruelty free in their makeup nowadays. I am starting to make a conscious effort to stay clear of brands that test on animals. I am also starting to try and transition my makeup collection to cruelty free.

While researching cruelty free makeup brands I have discovered Cruelty-Free Kitty a beautiful informative website created by Suzi. It is the best online resource I have found. She has made a comprehensive list of brands that do and do not test on animals making it easy to find out if your favourite brands are harming animals to be made. I urge everyone to go check her website out for yourself, even if it is to just inform you on some of the issues and find out if your favourite products are cruelty free. Find the website here.

1. The Body Shop
One of my most favourite brands, and an avid promoter for not testing products on animals. The Body Shop has also recently been bought by Natura&Co a Brazilian company that doesn't test on animals. They sell some of my favourite body butters my favourite scent being coconut. They also have a Drops of Youth range which is one of my favourites. They also sell amazing makeup, that I particularly love as The Body Shop is the first place I got my makeup done and purchased products from when I was younger.

2. B by Superdrug

Superdrug's own MakeUp brand, B cosmetics offers high quality vegan and cruelty free makeup products. They aim to create a make up range that consists of products and knowledge for everyone to become their own makeup artist.

3. Barry M

Beauty with compassion has been at the heart of Barry M since 1982. 'They are also proudly supporting Humane Society International's global Be Cruelty-Free campaign, the largest campaign in history to achieve a worldwide end to animal testing for cosmetics'. Barry M not only sell the best nail varnishes in my opinion my absolute favourites are Almond and Skinny dip. They also sell lots of other makeup and accessories.

4. Lottie London

A relatively new brand that mainly produces nail polishes and makeup brushes, they are very open about being cruelty free. From their website "Lottie London is a cruelty free brand – our brushes are made with synthetic hair making them vegan friendly and easy to take care of. No animals were harmed in the making of our products, we love them too much!"
5. Revolution
Revolution do some of the best drugstore eyeshadow palettes with many different shades available at affordable prices. They are also 100% cruelty free and do not test any of their products on animals.

6. MUA Makeup academy

Not only do MUA state on their website, that none of their products or ingredients have been tested on animals. They also do minimum retouching on their photographs to try and show their products in real life situations. MUA have confirmed with The Vegan Taff that they are cruelty-free, and only export to China via their website (which means they are not subject to the same laws.)

7. GOSH

GOSH sells pretty much every kind of makeup you will ever need. Not only do they not test their ingredients or final products on animals making them cruelty free but on the Superdrug website there is also a range of products listed that are also suitable for vegans.

8. Pixi

Pixi sell some of the most beautiful products and whenever I go into M&S I always go to have a browse to see anything that is new. The brands has become increasingly popular the past few years. They are 100% cruelty free, and also have some products that are vegan. They are most known for their glow tonic, which is an award winning product.

9. Soap & Glory

Soap and Glory sell some of my favourite drugstore makeup products. I absolutely love the Thick and lash lash extensions mascara. They also sell some amazing skincare such as the Clean on me and Sugar crush body scrub. They pride themselves on being a transparent company and not testing any products on animals.

Traveling and being able to experience different cultures is something that I will never grow tired of. There is nothing better than wandering around cobbled streets camera in hand disconnected from the internet and without a care in the world.

Each country, city, or town is different in its own unique way. They all thrive in such different corners of the world. I would quite happily spend all of my money traveling around the world rather than spend money on materialistic items as for me there is nothing more valuable than memories. As long as I have a camera with me, to capture photos so I can always look back on images with that sense of nostalgia and longing is what makes me crave travel more and more.

Everywhere that I travel is a new adventure, a new story, and new memory… there is not one Country where I have visited that I could compare to another as they are all so different and beautiful in so many different ways, even if I visit the same destination over and over. Memories that I have made through traveling will stay with me forever and will always be great stories to tell to others to share my stories.

I am also a strong believer in traveling being the greatest education you can receive. It the way I have been brought up and a belief that I now share with my parents. I think traveling has made me a richer person in so many ways. It has shown me so many different ways of life and has shown me some of the harsh conditions that people are living in, making me appreciate the little things in life even more.

Through traveling I have also met some amazing people. I have friends in literally all four corners of the world and through talking to locals in the places I visit it allows you to gain a great understanding of different ways of living.

What places to travel are on your bucket list?
